PINEAPPLE HANDLING

Storage Tips

Green fruit should be stored at 8°C, with 85- 95% relative humidity.

Shelf life is typically 2-3 weeks. Prolonged storage under ambient conditions (25° to 30°C) will result in high moisture loss, surface shrivelling and discoloration.

Pineapples are ethylene sensitive so wherever possible, they should not be stored in close proximity to high ethylene producing fruits.


Display Tips

Pineapples can either be displayed standing upright or lying down on their sides up to four levels deep. If displayed lying down, the green crowns should be pointing away from the customer.
